Prom 2008

A lot of things in life change, but all high school kids look forward to prom. This past weekend, Timpanogos celebrated its 11th Prom. Of course, most dates say it was the most romantic, perfect way to end the year.

No successful prom is possible without the talents of a great Junior class, and this Junior class Courtney Brown President, Tyler Mayberry, Shelby McKell, Brooke Hodson and Trent Jackman did an outstanding job.

Junior Courtney Brown said, "We chose Thanksgiving Point because we all think it's so pretty out there, that everybody would have an enjoyable evening, and it is not too far away. It was pretty stressful planning and preparing for it, but I think that it was definitely worth it and that all the time we as a junior council put into it, was made up for."

Junior Tyler Mayberry said, "We met with Thanksgiving point and they showed us around and offered us some pretty good deals. I think the Prom showcase went really well also, and a lot of people participated."

The theme for the prom was "This is All We Need" based on the song written by Michael Lanham and performed by Devin Moore, Shae Hunsaker and Josh Larsen. Carla Choque, junior, said, "The prom song was amazing!"

Michael's inspiration for the theme song came from Becca Mahlum. Mike was playing around on the piano at "Treat Friday" at Lauren Craig's house and Becca said that it sounded like a prom song. Mike talked it over with Justin Greer, and Justin wrote the lyrics and Michael composed the music and arrangement. "Although recording was a challenge, Shae and Devin were amazing, and Josh's bass improvisation really added to the song."

An enormous thanks goes to Mr. Larsen, the Junior Class Adviser, Mrs. Broberg and her stage crew for helping with the showcase, and the junior class.

All the seniors and sophomores should want to thank the juniors for a great prom. We only hope that next year's junior class will put on just as good of one as you did for us.
