Scares, Screams and Corn Mazes

Only after the corn starts to play games with the mind and there seems to be no escape will the way out suddenly appear, and the two long hours spent walking through phase one of the endless maze will finally be over, that is if phase two doesn't beckon.

Thanksgiving Point has again held the annual Cornbelly's Corn Maze this Halloween, and in honor of Utah's very own American Idol contestant, this year's maze has literally become the face of David Archuleta. As guests of all ages wander through the twists and turns of the talented Archuleta's face, they're entertained by the smooth sounds of his music.

However, the highlight of the night is not Archuleta's tribute, but rather the corn maze itself.  Adults, children and teenagers alike enjoy the rush and excitement of being lost in the corn and making their own fun.

Junior Derek Sorensen says, "The best part was scaring each other or cheating and going through the corn walls."

For those in search of an adrenaline rush, Cornbelly's also has Cornophobia, a twisted trail deep into the heart of a haunted field and even through a seemingly abandoned bus.  However, it doesn't seem to bring as much excitement as last year's actual haunted corn maze.  Be warned: this is where hands start to sweat, pulses start to race, and screams fill the air.

Senior Stephanie Moran claims, "I prefer haunted [corn mazes] because that way I'm not focusing on how lost I am."  However, most enter the haunted maze in hopes of a good scare.

Senior Emilie Bench says, "It is scarier because there is no escaping until the end.  It's an adrenaline rush."

Not only is Cornbelly's full of haunted characters ready to scare as soon as darkness falls, but it also has adventure that will last for hours.

The haunted creature will send chills down the spine, the giant rocking chair may just bring back childhood memories, the duck racing will surely bring out the competitive type, and the giant balloon jump will entertain teenagers just as much as the kiddies.

Cornbelly's at Thanksgiving Point is the perfect place to spend an autumn afternoon with the family or a terror-filled adventure with friends.
