The Bravery: The Sun And The Moon

By Amy Stott

When listening to "The Sun and the Moon," I realized that it is a lot different from the self-titled album before. "The Sun and the Moon" is the second album The Bravery has released. It is much more complex than the album before. "The Sun and the Moon" has tuned down the electronics and strayed a little from their electronic sound, which didn't show all of their potential.

This album stands out compared to the other and creates a tightly harmonic melody and rhythm. The fourteen-track album has some powerful lyrics but keeps its audience with its upbeat nature. Senior Zack Morris says, "They are deep on a lyrical basis but keep upbeat with a pretty stellar melody."

The variety of "The Sun and the Moon" is quite a change from the ongoing synthetic sounds of the first CD. On this new album, the band is trying to explore other sounds as well as the synthesizing sound they are known for. From acoustic (Tragedy Bound) to a keyboard-driven song (Fistful of Sand), the band definitely shows that this album is a little more diverse.

In either album, I think you can find some pretty intense rock grooves. Senior Amber Lilly says, "It's not my favorite album, but I really like it. I like the lyrics." So if you enjoy music that has meaning but yet is upbeat, then "The Sun and the Moon" is an album you should check out.
